“The tonkotsu ramen at Meiko Kitchen is the best I've had outside of Japan — the broth is impossibly rich and the atmosphere is just magical.”
Meiko KitchenOur Story
Meiko Kitchen was founded in 2014 by Chef Meiko Tanaka, who grew up watching her grandmother cook in a small kitchen in Kyoto. After training in Tokyo and later at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris, she brought her vision of soulful, unpretentious Japanese cooking to downtown New York City.
Every dish at Meiko Kitchen is a love letter to Japanese home cooking — elevated just enough to feel special, but never so refined that it loses its warmth. Our dining room is designed to feel like a friend's home: low lighting, wooden surfaces, the smell of dashi in the air.
We believe the best meals are shared slowly, with good sake and even better company.
